Timo Kube German, b. 1977

For Earth Eaters Kube showcases one of his ‘studio bogs’. A studio bog consists of a natural or industrial, often found material submerged in water inside a container. Over time life develops in various forms; unicellular and multicellular organisms such as water fleas and algae appear. By maintaining the water level and leaving the bog exposed to daylight, air, and anything else in the artist’s studio that makes its way in by chance, the small ecosystem goes through a continuous cycle of growth and decay. Depending on the source material, each of the bogs finds its own unique balance within its contained set of conditions.
